JOB PURPOSE
The Accountant is responsible for managing full spectrum accounting activities for the Singapore market, ensuring compliance with group and statutory requirements. This role supports accurate financial reporting, budgeting, cash flow and audit processes whilst partnering store teams, corporate functions and regional stakeholders to enable smooth operations.
The ideal candidate is technology-savvy, leveraging on systems and digital tools to drive efficiency and accuracy. Beyond technical expertise, the role demands strong critical thinking, adaptability, and resilience in a dynamic, fast-paced luxury retail environment. Success in this role requires agility, resilience, coupled with a collaborative mindset and meticulous attention to detail.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Reporting & Record Keeping
- Manage full spectrum accounting for Singapore including cash flow, budgeting and audit activities.
- Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end closings, adhering to group and statutory requirements.
- Apply IFRS/SFRS accounting principles and standards to business operations.
- Oversee day-to-day finance operations and collaborate with retail store operations, corporate functions and regional teams to ensure seamless processes.
- Prepare monthly financial reports, schedules and reconciliations.
- Conduct monthly variance analysis and provide insights to management.
- Liaise with HQ and Regional teams to address finance-related queries.
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Assist in annual budget preparation and biannual forecasting.
Compliance & Auditing
- Oversee both internal and external audits, address auditor inquiries promptly, and ensure audits proceed efficiently with optimal results.
- Ensure compliance with Singapore Financial Reporting Standards (SFRS), ACRA, and IRAS regulations.
- Prepare and file corporate tax returns, GST and other official reports.
Process Improvements
- Support finance transformation projects and continuous process improvements.
System & Tools
- Utilize SAP and any other relevant accounting tool/software/platform for efficient financial management, reporting, and control.
Others
- Perform any other ad hoc duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Bachelor’s degree and above in Finance, Accounting, or related field; CPA/CA qualification (in progress/attained) preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in finance roles ideally within a Luxury or Retail MNC; Big 4 experience is highly desirable.
- Proficient in SAP financial modules (FI/CO modules preferred) and advanced MS Excel skills.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS/SFRS Accounting Standards.
- Detail-oriented, organized and technologically savvy – leveraging on tools, software and/or platforms to execute tasks efficiently.
- Demonstrates strong critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive and technology-driven approach. Able to work independently and collaboratively, adapting quickly and remaining resilient under pressure to deliver results in a fast-paced, evolving luxury retail environment.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to engage with internal and external stakeholders.
